The Wireless Microphone System Developed for Darbuka Players
For years, Darbuka and Doumbek players have had to use microphones and wireless systems originally designed for other instruments. At Arab Instruments, we wanted to create a better and more practical solution for the way darbuka players actually perform.
Meet the U-750 Wireless Microphone for Darbuka & Doumbek – a complete wireless microphone system developed around the unique needs of goblet drum players.
The compact 140 dB SPL microphone and wireless transmitter attach directly to the instrument, so there is no separate bodypack and no microphone cable running from your darbuka to the receiver. Connect the U-750 receiver to your mixer or PA system, set your sound, and you are ready to perform with much greater freedom on stage.
***This purchase includes the U-750 wireless microphone system only. Darbuka drums shown in the photos are for demonstration purposes and are not included.
Why We Developed a Microphone for Darbuka
A darbuka is not an easy instrument to amplify. A powerful DOOM, a sharp TAK, finger rolls and fast strokes can all happen within seconds, with very different frequencies and sound pressure levels.
That is why we developed this system with Darbuka and Doumbek performance in mind.
The microphone is rated for sound pressure levels up to 140 dB SPL, making it suitable for close placement on loud percussion instruments and dynamic live performances.
No Bodypack. No Microphone Stand. More Freedom.
Traditional instrument wireless systems often use a microphone connected by cable to a separate bodypack worn by the musician.
The U-750 takes a different approach. The microphone and wireless transmitter are integrated into one compact unit mounted directly on your instrument. Simply attach the small mounting piece to your darbuka, then slide the wireless microphone into place. That's it! No complicated setup, no tools, and no cables getting in your way. Once the mount is attached, you can easily connect or remove the microphone whenever you need it.
- No separate bodypack to wear
- No microphone cable running across your body
- No microphone stand positioned in front of your darbuka
- More freedom to move naturally while performing
- A cleaner and more professional stage setup
For darbuka players who like to move, interact with the audience or simply want a cleaner setup, this can completely change the stage experience.
Important – UHF Frequency: 510–590 MHz
This wireless microphone system operates within the 510–590 MHz UHF frequency range.
Please check before ordering: Wireless microphone frequency regulations vary by country. Some frequencies within the 510–590 MHz range may be permitted, restricted, or require a license depending on your location.
It is the buyer's responsibility to verify that this frequency range can be legally used for wireless microphones in their country. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering and we will be happy to help.
Capture the DOOM, TAK and Dynamics of Your Playing
The darbuka produces everything from deep bass strokes to sharp high-frequency attacks. The U-750 microphone was selected to work with the high sound pressure and dynamic playing associated with darbuka and other acoustic instruments.
Its 140 dB SPL capability helps the microphone handle strong strokes when positioned close to the drum, while allowing the natural character of your instrument and playing technique to come through the audio system.
Important: A microphone does not create the sound of your darbuka – it captures it. Your final amplified sound depends on the complete audio chain.
What Determines Your Final Darbuka Sound?
We believe in setting the right expectations. The microphone is only one part of your final sound. Three major factors will determine what your audience ultimately hears:
1. Your Darbuka
Every darbuka sounds different. The body, skin, tuning, construction and your playing technique all affect the depth of the DOOM, sharpness of the TAK and overall character of the instrument.
A good microphone can capture your darbuka, but it cannot turn a poor-sounding or badly tuned instrument into a professional-sounding one.
2. Your Mixer & Sound System
The U-750 receiver connects to your mixer or PA system. The quality of the mixer, amplifier, speakers and the rest of your audio equipment will have a significant effect on the final sound.
3. Your Mixer Settings
Proper gain, EQ, compression, effects and volume settings can make a major difference in the final sound. When using the receiver's separate XLR outputs, your DJ or sound engineer can control each connected instrument independently – particularly useful when using two different instruments, such as a Darbuka and an Oud.
For the best results, we recommend taking some time during soundcheck to find the right settings for your particular instrument, venue and sound system.
Wireless Freedom vs. Maximum Audio Fidelity
The U-750 was developed to offer a strong balance between sound quality, wireless freedom, convenience and stage performance.
However, we want our customers to understand the difference between a wireless performance system and a high-end professional wired microphone setup.
If your only priority is achieving the maximum possible audio fidelity for professional studio recording or critical sound applications, a high-end professional wired microphone and recording setup may provide better results.
If you want good darbuka sound combined with the freedom to perform without being tied to a microphone cable, bodypack or microphone stand, the U-750 was developed for exactly that purpose.
Connect Two Instruments – Two Ways
The U-750 is a dual-channel wireless receiver, allowing you to use two compatible wireless transmitters at the same time. For example, you can connect two Darbukas, or use one transmitter for a Darbuka and another for an Oud or other compatible instrument.
The receiver gives you two different output options depending on how you want to control the sound:
Option 1 – MIX OUT: Two Instruments Through One Mixer Channel
Connect the receiver's MIX OUT to your mixer using the supplied PL cable. The audio from both wireless transmitters is combined into a single output.
This is the simple option when you want both instruments to play through the sound system together without using two separate mixer channels.
Option 2 – Separate XLR Outputs: Independent Control of Each Instrument
For greater control, connect BALANCED A and BALANCED B separately to two channels on your mixer using XLR cables.
Each wireless transmitter then has its own mixer channel. This allows your DJ or sound engineer to adjust the gain, EQ, volume, compression and effects independently for each instrument.
This is especially useful when using two different instruments – for example, a Darbuka and an Oud – because each instrument can receive its own individual sound settings.
- Connect up to two compatible wireless transmitters simultaneously
- MIX OUT combines both instruments into one mixer input
- Separate XLR outputs provide independent control of Channel A and Channel B
- Ideal for two Darbukas or two different compatible instruments
- PL and XLR cables are included with the set
Not Only for Darbuka
Although the U-750 was developed with Darbuka and Doumbek players at the center of the project, it is not limited to goblet drums.
The compact instrument-mounted microphone design can also be suitable for other percussion and acoustic instruments where the mounting system and microphone characteristics are appropriate.
This makes the U-750 an interesting option for musicians who play more than one instrument and want a compact wireless instrument microphone system for live performance.

Developed by Arab Instruments
Arab Instruments has specialized in Arabic and Middle Eastern musical instruments since 2009. During those years, we have worked with darbuka players, professional musicians, instrument makers and performers around the world.
We know that darbuka players have specific needs that are often overlooked by general audio products.
That experience is why we decided to develop a wireless microphone solution around the instrument rather than simply treating the darbuka like any other drum.
The U-750 Darbuka & Instrument Wireless Microphone System is an exclusive Arab Instruments set developed to give darbuka players a practical combination of sound, mobility and stage convenience.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a wireless microphone for Darbuka?
A wireless darbuka microphone allows the sound of a darbuka or doumbek to be transmitted to a receiver without running a traditional microphone cable from the instrument to the audio system. The U-750 combines an instrument-mounted microphone and wireless transmitter with a professional receiver that connects to your mixer or PA system.
Is the U-750 specifically developed for Darbuka and Doumbek?
Yes. Arab Instruments developed the U-750 system around the requirements of darbuka and doumbek players, including close microphone placement, powerful DOOM strokes, sharp TAK strokes, dynamic playing and the need for freedom of movement during live performances.
Can the microphone handle loud Darbuka playing?
The microphone is rated to handle sound pressure levels up to 140 dB SPL, making it suitable for close placement on loud percussion instruments such as darbuka and doumbek.
Will this microphone make my Darbuka sound better?
The U-750 captures and transmits the sound of your instrument, but your final sound depends on your darbuka, mixer and sound system, and the EQ and other settings used by your DJ or sound engineer. The natural sound and tuning of the instrument remain extremely important.
Will it sound the same as a professional wired microphone?
Not necessarily. A high-end professional wired microphone setup can provide greater audio fidelity, especially for critical studio recording. The U-750 is designed to provide a balance of good sound, wireless freedom, easy setup and stage convenience.
Do I need to wear a bodypack?
No. The microphone and wireless transmitter are combined into a compact unit mounted on the instrument, so you do not need to wear a conventional separate bodypack.
Do I need a microphone stand?
No. The microphone mounts directly to the instrument using the supplied mounting system, eliminating the need to position a traditional microphone stand in front of the darbuka.
Can I connect the receiver to a mixer?
Yes. The U-750 receiver is designed to connect to compatible professional audio equipment, including mixers and PA systems. An XLR cable is included with the set.
Is a Doumbek the same as a Darbuka?
The names Darbuka and Doumbek are commonly used for closely related Middle Eastern goblet drums. The U-750 wireless microphone system is designed for this family of percussion instruments.
Can I use the U-750 microphone with other instruments?
Yes. Darbuka and Doumbek were the main focus during development, but the compact microphone system can also be suitable for other acoustic instruments when the mounting system and microphone specifications are appropriate.
